Newton joins the Whitecaps - Indy Eleven keeper to add "veteran leadership"
Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps have announced on Friday that they have signed goalkeeper Evan Newton. The 32-year-old joins the club from USL side Indy Eleven and has signed a contract until the end of the 2022 season with a club option for 2023.
"Evan brings a lot of North American experience to our goalkeeper pool and will provide additional veteran leadership to our young group," Whitecaps head coach Marc Dos Santos said in a club statement. "This year, the schedule for both domestic and international play will be extremely busy and it's important we are covered in every position. We are very pleased to welcome Evan and his family to our club."
